Lycoming 65 (0-145) Engine Mount Bushings

In my past life when I was flying a Porterfield LP-65 I had a bunch of Lycoming 65 parts but I thought they were all gone. Last night, while looking through a bunch of old boxes I Uncovered 8 (eight) rubber engine mount bushings for an 0-145 65hp Lycoming. Any pre-war Lycoming 65 guys still out ther...

Re: Aeronca Pre/Post War

Well I pretty much sold everything except some old somewhat junky 7/11ac ailerons and a rather nice pair of L3/ 0-58 oleo case frames. In all of this parts sales business everyone I sold stuff too was happy to get it at a decent price and I was happy to have it out of my hangar. Win/Win. Most times ...

Aeronca Pre/Post War

I posted this under Prewar Aeronca's as well. I just picked up a 1940 prewar (stick chief) project. It has a pretty decent fuselage, not damaged and no splices. It looks fairly solid. Wings are good patterns, no struts though. Has gear and shinn wheels, tailfeathers, big tach, front original nose bo...

Re: 337

Teecart, It seems to me B Pancake had a 337 for a 85-8 in a 65CA. I spoke with him quite a while ago and he mentioned something about that. I am rebuilding a 65LB (conv to continental) and have thought about going the 85 route, but they are a king's ransom. Your mechanic 'lost' all the logs??? I wou...

Re: Need a prewar Chief Aileron

Brian,

The only thing on Barnstormers is a post war 7ac/11ac aileron and an aileron for a 41 TAC. If you found another please let me know.

Thanks
Jim

Re: Need a prewar Chief Aileron

Mike, I feel bad for you having to put up with all that warmth and sunshine and not able to spend the rest of the winter freezing with the rest of us. :| I have the fuselage through silver, the wings ready to spray silver, and the stabilizers covered, so you are ahead of me by a bit, but this things...

Re: Need a prewar Chief Aileron

Craig, Thanks for the good information. Yes I was planning on reskinning the 'good'? one I have with .016 It is fairly beat and yes you are right they need to flex with the wing and if they don't I believe the crack would emulate from the bolt holes on the rear spar, where they are attached. I built...

Re: Need a prewar Chief Aileron

Thanks to Richard for sending me the photos. Unfortunately they are not prewar Chief Ailerons, so I am still searching.
Thanks

Re: Need a prewar Chief Aileron

Richard, Yes send me some pictures. I should be able to tell. The prewar chief has a bellcrank riveted in the center of the Aileron. It hangs down below the Aileron and hits the aileron stop that sticks out of the wing. Postwar ailerons do not have this feature so you can run around under the wing b...

Need a prewar Chief Aileron

I posted this under 'prewar Aeroncas' as well. I need a prewar Chief Aileron. I really only need one, but would buy two if thats the way it has to be. Have some other prewar wing parts to horse trade or $$. 65C/65CA/65LA/65LB

Thanks

Need a prewar Chief Aileron

Got a (somewhat) ok Prewar Aileron and one that's homemade. The homemade one looks pretty good, but for some reason or another they used .050 for the whole thing. It weighs about as much as a freight train. They even made the leading edge out of .050 Im not sure what possessed them to do such a thin...

Re: Aeronca 11CC fuselage covering?

Ok Mike I am in the same boat, only I have a pre-war chief which is different as it has no balance at the top and it does not have the 'big' tail (no prewar does) but I have the fabric and was planning on pinning it together and marking and then having someone with a sewing machine sew it for me (wi...

Re: Tailwheel spring tension??

Mike, Completely agree on Maule Pneumatic, I have owned, flown and worked on several Aeronca's and never met a Maule Pneumatic I liked. The only thing they seem good for is when you are on Skiis, then they track pretty decent in 2 foot of snow!! and they are a little taller so the tail stays u...
