Re: Convert Champ to Sport Pilot

It would be nice if the FAA would get their act together and set some guidelines that are well defined and easily understood. Now that BasicMed is available (though for many not easy to accomplish) I think some of the pressure has been taken off. My Chief came from the Factory as an 11AC. Put in a D...

Re: Convert Champ to Sport Pilot

We had two towed to East Hampton Airport last season. I will stick with my Sedan on Floats.

Re: Convert Champ to Sport Pilot

ICON got an exemption in MGW in return for ICON adding Anti-Spin equipment to the ICON. Having flown one, I have no interest in one of those at any price.

Re: Convert Champ to Sport Pilot

If you haven't already, get yourself a copy of the FAA CD for your plane (a great $10.00 investment) and see what documents are already on file for your plane. A 7EC is a problem, where the 7DC and the optional MGW increase is the one thing that usually screwed up those planes for being Light Sport....

Re: New member

Hey Benjamin, Welcome to the Forum. I had my 7CCM on EDO 1400s and than with the STC on 1320s, which turned out to be a super combination, but I had the best overall performance with 1400s on my Chief with the Don's Dream machine engine. www.SeaplanePilot.com is coming back on line and there are man...

Re: Aircraft Clock Repair

Sporty's also has a few models to pick from, but the kitchen timers from the Big Box Stores work great. Having the timer function also allows me to record operational time without a HOBBS meter and more accurately provides actual flight time rather than RPM / Tach Time. Depending on how far you taxi...

Re: Aircraft Clock Repair

After having owned dozens of aircraft and having everyone of their clocks either fail or never work to begin with, I have given up and use stick on times I buy from Walmart. In addition to being a clock, they are count down timers too,

Re: Balsa models

I have paid some ridiculous prices for some old Revel kits that I really wanted. As a kid and a young Ham Radio operator, I made lots of Heath, Allied, Eicho and other kits. I have seen some unbuilt Heath kits from the 60s sell for thousands of dollars and many of the early components, especially th...

Same with the "-8" engines, which turn the opposite direction as they do not have the accessory case that "-12s" do.

Re: "Hangars are no place for building airplanes...":

If I build a hanger at my own expense, pay a ground lease for the land and pay taxes. I want to do what ever I want with it as long as it is legal. I take the risk of the closing of the airport, like the 4 that were in Rockland County, New York, when I lived there and now there are none.

Re: Its time to come together as one, we have a major problem.

We have all kind of similar things happening at HTO Airport in East Hampton, Long Island, New York. When I started flying, there was plenty of Uncontrolled Airspace, and a number of times, I was met in a farmers field with a glass of lemonade or ice tea, thanking me for popping in. Those days are go...
