Re: 7CCM RPM Drop

Try putting on the Carb Heat - If the RPM rises (effectively enriches the mixture) than I agree and bet it is the float in the carburetor. Had the same problem on climb out on one of my Continentas. I would take off and it was not dependent on altitude, but pitch.

Re: L-16 For Sale

Great price for an airplane with actual Army pedigree. My understanding it came from the factory as an L-16A and has the appropriate C-85-8 engine.

Re: L-16 For Sale

That link does not work. Where is the plane located and can you send specs and pictures?

Re: Thrust

I understand about the HP Vs. Thrust situation and actually don't really care about it for my airplanes. If the engine gets me up in the area, helps me scoot around and some reasonable pace and gets me home, I am fine. This is for an A-65 mounted on a two pontoon air boat. Should be jut fine for ove...

Re: Thrust

Thank Paul. I understand the inaccuracies of trying to calculate this, but wondered if like, say turbine engines, if they have some Rated Thrust. A friend is trying to determine the relationship to this and his newly build airboat, which of course depending on what media it is on has much difference...

Thrust

I know that in our little birds, the calculation of Thrust, does not seem to come up much. Does anyone know about how much thrust a stock A-50 or A-65 can produce at Red Line with the propeller normally used?

Re: STC and SB needed for A65 to A75 conversion

I would give Bill Pancake or Don Swords a call. I think there is some kind of service letter rather than an STC. If I am not thinking about the wrong engine (C-75 to C-85?) it requires opening up the oil circulation holes, a prop change and a carburetor jet change.

Re: Parking brakes

The number I have used for Cole Wagner is 605-532-3862. The old one that I had, 605-532-1305 I do not think is hooked up any more.

I have owned one Aeronca with a parking brake and it was totally ineffective and in my opinion a safety hazard.

Re: Dashpad material

Not sure if it was OK to do, but I also replaced the rotted and warped plywood sheet under the nose tank with aluminum, but when my wing tank had to come out to have a leak repaired, the fabric that was cut out was replaced with painted to match, and screwed on, aluminum skin.

Re: Dashpad material

I used formed aluminum on my replacement so it was light and much less susceptible to moisture.

Drawings for Non-C Model

Hi,

I have the disc with all the drawings. The "C" model file are pretty much labeled, but the other file of 4600 drawings is not. Is there an index available or some way to tell which drawings are for what without opening every one of the 4600 up?

Thanks, Bob
