Tailwheel Instruction in New York

Hi Everyone, I am a CFI and own an Aeronca 7CCM on wheels with a C-90. I can provide instructions and endorsement in Tailwheel aircraft as well as LSA Seaplane Rating. I know a lot of other Tailwheel Instructors in Northern New Jersey as well as in Upstate New York, so if you are interested and in t...

Re: STS radio adapter

Digi-Key should have these connectors. If not, there are a number of Electronic Parts houses in California that will be able to come up with one. As far as the adapter itself, once you get the connector, you can buy in line Female connectors from the same parts houses, or even Radio Shack and wire t...

Re: ICOM A-5

The dry cell route will work very well. I use a 12 volt alarm Sealed Acid Battery in my Champ and have one of the 4 way chargers for it as they do not recommend trickle charging these batteries all the time. The charger was about $30.00 but it turns on, brings the batter almost to full charge, cuts ...

Re: Ethanol Free Gas

If you have a marina in your area, check if they can get it. Here in New York all car gas now has to contain at least 10% ethanol, so there are no gas stations where you can get it, but the distributors can legally provide it to places that do not sell fuel for use in automobiles, which includes air...

Re: Fuel Survey

Two of the airports that I fly out of allow for the construction of your own hanger at your own cost. In both cases the monthly rent is a flat $150.00, which is $1,800.00 per year, plus electric and insurance. I keep my Champ at one of these ariports, but rent in a gang hanger (three of us, but one ...

Let's See If I Can Remember What the Questions are: 1. - Robert Kittine 2. - I live in New York (New York City and Long Island) 3. - We can still get Auto Gas without Ethonal delivered to the local airport, seaplane base and a number of marina's. 4. - Run 100% Auto Gas in a 1946 Chief - C-85-12 with...

Re: Vortex Generators - Part Deux

I put Vortex Generators on my Chief after adding EDO 80-1400 Floats. The SLIGHT loss in airspeed was for sure made up in slow flight handling, especially when trying to get off the water with two fuys on board. Slips are much more percises and I love them. I have a C-85-12 in the Chief with the Don'...

Re: Battery with no generator

Hi Boris, I have the battery installed in my Chief in the rear baggage compartment and did it via a field approval on a 337. The Sealed Lead Acid Batteries are supposed to be charged with a "Fixed Voltage" charger and Trickle Chargers are not recommended, though on the Chief I use a Fixed Output Sol...
