When was the last time you saw one?

Joie-

The single ignition was use on the Continental

A-50-1, -4 and -7

And on the

A-65-1 and -7

My 1939 Chief had a A-65-7 (single iginition) and I converted it to dual ignition and put the old single engine rear case in the hangar loft years ago---have been cleaning it out and got it down today--also misc, Aeronca parts and a zilion other pieces of a 50 year collection.

The single ignition was banned by the CAA I believe about 1940 for certification. Will have to check my archives for the exact date.

Doug,

Have seen photos of these rear cases but not one in person.

Hope you find a good home for most of that interesting stuff!

Doug,
You don't have the mag drive do you? I'm missing a few items on a A50-1 that I have. If you decide to part with some of your stuff let me know.

Thanks Doug,
This engine is for my KCA. It had an A65 and Champ cowl, I want to get it closer to original.
My engine is s/n 10971 and a pretty early dry sump model. The intake uses gland nuts like the 220 Continental. I have a spare set of cylinders but they have different intake set up. More like the A65 with a different elbows at the heads.
I would also like to find the original cast exhaust manifolds. I have only seen pictures of them. All of the locals, that would know about them, say they are trash and were thrown away on about the third flight. I guess I'm not afraid of a challenge.
As time marches on there are fewer people that know much about this old junk. Thank you for your help.
