Post by CptKelly » Mon Mar 30, 2009 23:30

I have a good , usable, C85-12 for sale. Approx 450hrs SMOH, no damage...not a prop strike. Has slick mags and Champ baffling. No starter, carburetor, prop or exhaust. Engine is airworthy and practically ready to fly $5000 firm.

Mike,

Isnt this the engine that you replaced with a "Dons Dream Machines" O-200?

If yes, then that helps the value of this one as it was flying fine until removed for an upgrade.

Joe,
Yes, the very same one. I looked at the logs today, the engine was majored 311 hours ago, in 1995. It has a standard crank. The camshaft and lifter bodies were reground. It had new +.015 pistons, valves, etc. I have the logs back to 1975. All one has to do with this engine is supply a carburetor and exhaust system, and fire it up and go flying. Oh, it has been modified to accept a B&C starter, so if you want a lightweight starter, all you have to do is bolt one up and go. Slick mags were added in 1998.

I'm located in South Carolina, about mid ways between Columbia and Aiken. We have a very smooth 2600' airstrip here, if one wanted to fly in.

Mike,

Can you pls give us a ballpark of what it went for?

IMHO The -12 versions should be holding their prices as more and more people go to an electric starter for safety.
