CA 65 Trim crank

Hi Im looking for a drawing number or pics of the trim crank for my 41 Aeronca, Mine is in the headliner which I understand is correct for my year and model. Looks like the plate that has nose up/nose down was turned around in the wrong hole's. We turned it around to where it looks correct now. Is there anyway that the crank assembly could be assembled incorrectly? Looks like it may be turning in the wrong direction. The rod is connected to the rack on the passenger side. One question I have is when it is cranked to the nose down which way should the trim tab move? In reality I know but I think it is moving in the wrong direction and throwing me and my instructor for a loop. Any help or pics of this would be a blessing, Looks to be a pain to remove the assembly with the headliner already installed. My number is 334-740-2424 if you want to call or send pics.

Well if you turn the crank in the nose down direction the tail will be coming up because the elevator is down because the trim tab is up creating high pressure on the top and low pressure on the bottom of the trim tab

It this what your trim tab looks like?

Thanks we're getting somewhere now. Can you help me to understand how to look up the drawings on the disc I got when I joined? I want to see the mechanism or complete crank, I would like to see pics of top and bottom of it.

Roady0309 I sent you an email describing how I found this data.

The 65CA airplane 3 view drawing is 7-123 and there is a drawing list on it.

From this list I opened drawing 7-113 and found the detail area for the trim crank

This is the top view as best I can determine. You have to use those experience skills to imagine what the bottom view is going to be as there is no drawing that I can locate to show it.

The trim tab is shown in drawing 1-403

Anyone have a pic of the crank with the plate and pointer mines missing the pointer and think this is what is confusing us on the direction it turns

The pointer is an arrow that Don Jones sells. It just is bolted to the spindle opposite from the crank. The crank is an automotive wing window crank as well as the gear mechanism.

Problem I'm having is when you turn it to nose up it's nose down then I found it had a indicator or pointer and went to plane this evening and saw it turns in opposite direction that the crank. I'm trying to figure out which direction the plackard points towards the front of the aircraft.

Anyone am I correct on the fact the pointer turns in the opposite direction that the crank does? Also just want to know if my plate is on in the right direction which way is towards the front of aircraft.

Yes, the pointer moves opposite of the crank. The pointer is not attached to the crank handle side. The pointer is at the top of the placard and points to the handle.

That is what I discovered with alot or research at pics on the internet just happened to find one on eBay that had not been redone. Also looks like the is a small bezel between the crank and plackard that is round from the wear maklrks on my plackard.
