Possible new project!

Post by wbaad » Thu Jul 13, 2017 22:54

hi all!
im new on here, but ive been lurking for almost 10 years. used to work on a couple champs and occasionally fly one.

I may have the opportunity to pick up a champ project and was wondering what the length of the fuselage is with the engine and tail feathers removed. need to make sure it'll fit in the shop.

also, is there approved paperwork/drawings for an electrical system for a 7bcm? Im in canada so 337 is no use... but factory prints/service letters should be fine.

thanks

There is a service letter(SL-13) that converts the 7AC to a 7BCM. If you want electrical you need to go to a 7DC (SL-14).

Link to service letters is http://aeronca.celinaux.com/pages/SL.index.html

I can fit the Champ on an 18ft trailer but I don't recall the exact measurements.

Glad to have you join us.

Thank you.
Does anybody have the drawings or parts list for what is required/possible to install for equipment?

Some of the L-16's had position lights using a battery and wind generator. Don't know what they want in the "From Sea to Sea" country.

I may have asked for too much info too fast.
Biggest priority is finding out if the plane will fit in the shop. I have 20 feet to work with, so knowing the fuselage length would be a benefit

The service manual lists the overall length at 21' 5 13/16"
Looks like you will have to take the engine off to get it in your 20ft shop :(
and re-reading your post the fuselage should not be an issue with the engine, motor mount, and rudder removed.

Ok that's what I was hoping for. Thanks for the reply. Now to try and work out a deal which could be the hard part...
