Helps and Hints 31

Post by Helopitts » Thu Nov 23, 2017 11:27

Hello Im brand new to the group and just purchased an Aeronca 7AC. And the Ailerons are kinda stiffer than Id like. Does anyone have a copy of Helps and Hints 31 that details going from 45-55 pounds down to 25-35?

Thank you very much!

Glad to have you onboard. I don't have a copy in front of me but I'm sure some one will chime in here. Todd Trainor at the Aeronca Museum site has them for sale should you want to purchase a complete copy.
Make sure the ailerons are attached correctly. The bolt to the hinge should be tight to make the bearing work. The 7AC should have extended inner race bearings that pinch to the aileron fitting. If Citabria hinges have been installed there should be two thick washers taking up this space. Make sure everything is lubed and moving.

Sorry late to chime in I don't check this site that often anymore but the original setting 55# seems too tight. I believe a good compromise is 35-40#.
Hope this helps!
