Sedan on floats

Post by v1vrv2 » Fri Apr 13, 2012 20:14

Can any one with Sedan experience advise me ! What would you think of the performance on a Sedan with floats, im in Canada and our summers get to about 80F max most times in the 70's.

Thanks for the help.

Sorry Joe just saw the float forum oops you can move it there...

Bob,

Great to see you here! Bob and I flew together in the Middle East years ago!

Now, the first question is what engine does the airplane have? Lots of float and bush Sedans have the 180 hp Lyc or even the 165 Franklin on them. They have more power than the stock 145 Continental.

Second is which set of floats? I am not a float guy but have been told that there are differences in the choices.

Hi Bob,

You can talk to Don Simmons up at Round Lake, New York. He has a stock 145 HP Franklin Sedan on 2,000s.

Hi Robert

Ok I'll give him a call but now iv'e got a line on one with the 180 Lycoming conversion sounds like a real performer at least that what the current owner is telling me. Anyways I'll look into it and hopefully get one of them.

Thanks,
Bob

Hi Matt

Thanks for the list, no I didn't buy one yet still looking.
It will make it easier to compare though.

Joe,
You make a guy sure want a Sedan. I've always liked Aeronca's and if I ever sell my 172 I will replace it with a Sedan. Classic looking plane!!!
