Hi there everyone..Been a while. Bought a sedan project and was wondering where to get a engine mount for a franklin, or how I can attain one. Also, even though it is in the type certificate, it still had a stc from maine aero. Who would have the stc for the franklin conversion now ? I,m not going the Lycoming route, as I already have a franklin ready to go. thanks

Boris,

You can search the FAA database for STC's by going to FAA.GOV and then search for STC and then search for 15AC

I found a one-time STC for a Franklin listed http://rgl.faa.gov/Regulatory_and_Guidance_Library/rgstc.nsf/0/3c7a3ba169a513848625786b00645a4e/$FILE/SA02937CH.pdf

You might try the engine mount overhaul folks as well.

I used to use Kosola and they were very good in the past.

I think Kosola was sold to Aircraft Exhaust Systems. I had Kosola do some work on my 7FC mount and the work was perfect. I hope the new guys do the same quality work.

Boris,

If the Franklin is listed in the Type Certificate (and it is), you do not need an STC. Its already approved...

Thx,

Boris,
Like Joe pointed out, the 165 Franklin can be installed using the Maine Air Service information with only a log entry. The STC Richard listed is for the 220 Franklin. This would need the STC applied for installation. I'm sure with a little digging you could find the Maine Air stuff for installation. As for the mount, call around to the welding people that fix mounts they might have some information on these. I doubt if Maine Air built the mounts in-house. Good luck on your search.

I would call Burl Rogers. The Type Certificate holder. He might have a mount for a Franklin, he has almost everything else.
