Re: Pros and Cons for Champ recover please !!!

Once the old covering is off, there are a lot of places to look and see how much else you really should do before recovering. As pointed out, after 45 years there is a lot that could have been damaged that can not be seen in annual inspections or in the course of normal maintenance.

If you don't get a response, contact Kiffen Jones. He moves Aeronca's all over the country.

Re: 7AC w/Lycoming 0-235C1 for 0-320 ?

One thing I wouldn't do is add that much horsepower (0-320) if the plane was not recently rebuilt and all the steel etc. checked. I have seen too much hidden corrosion in Aeronca's that I have owned to be cavalier about that. Also keep in mind the required spare inspection openings or special inspec...

My experience is that with 115 HP (o235 / Don's Dream Machine etc.) and a seaplane (climb), prop you will probably do fine, just don't overload the airplane.

Re: Metal Fuel Tanks

Gives you a great excuse to Pop In to airports and check them out when you need to get fuel. I remember a lot of very expensive repairs, replacements and then there was the leaks with the fuel bladders I had in my 182.

Welcome to the Forum. I would do it. Paid for too many bladder repairs / replacements in my flying lifetime.

Re: Fuel Shut Off Guard parts on Drawing 2-1510

I have this on my 7CCM and have send the drawings to others. Not sure what maybe special about the spring, but I just went to a really good hardware store and look at a few until I picked one that worked when I replaced mine. Easy enough to buy one over sized and cut it as necessary. What I have fou...

Through the Corridor with the Sedan would be great. Let me know what dates you plan on being in this area.

I wouldn't mind trying it in my Sierra. A little more comfort and I can slow it down to match the Champs.

Have a great flight and post lots of pictures. Did Melbourne, Florida to Rockland County New York back in the 60s. Today I am not sure my back could take it all.
