Re: Champ/Chief hinged cowl

I'm not sure why they would want authorization as long as the structure of the top cowling is attached as well as the old single piece one.
As for me, I think it's a great feature and I'm going to install a hinged top piece on mine when I re-do the cowlings.

I assume you have the service manual to work from.
A number of years ago I had one of my AM-4's rebuilt from Arn Air in Iowa. He used to advertise in Trade a Plane and I don't know if he's still around but I found this on the web.

An old Champ photo from '71

This is a photo I took in March 1971 at the Anoka County airport, KANE. The N number is 82067 and it has the Minnesota CAP seal on the tail and Fridley Squadron on the door. The N number is not registered to this plane anymore so I don't know what happened to this plane. The FAA database shows a nos...

Re: has something happened I missed?

"The vortex that is Facebook", boy ain't that the truth! It's easy and fast to post photos and text on facebook and it gets about 5 minutes of attention until someone else posts, and then it's pretty much forgotten. Too bad you can't post photos here anymore unless you go through someplace like Phot...

All good points above, and I wish this site was a little more active too. I guess that most of you are either out flying and having too much fun, or your projects are being worked on quietly. There are many great posts to be found in the search area, so I hope this site doesn't fade away into oblivi...

Sometimes they come up on E-bay, but, they're not cheap. Swap meet/fly-markets could a source too.
