Re: NEW McDowell starters and parts available!!!

Shouldn't be a problem as an owner produced part. I have built a lot of the components and distributed them amongst the group. I let the installer determine what and how they want to install the parts. If you build them for sale they must have some manner of approval. If the FAA got involved, someon...

Re: STC and SB needed for A65 to A75 conversion

Brink,
The conversion is for the A series engines. The benefit just doesn't outweigh the problems.

West Coast Swarm to Middletown 2020

Been talking to some of our Left Coast members about flying to Middletown for the 2020 Convention. Being West of the Rockies and the Sierra Nevada mountains is a little bit of a problem for our small airplanes. I've been thinking about attending as a group so we can all help each other during the tr...

Re: Franklin 4A-150

Richard, I have sent her an email as well as the bunch in Colorado. Just got the little engine apart, looks pretty good inside. I should be able to make it run, the museum thought they wanted it a "serviceable" engine. Depending on their requirement the class will try to give them a nice engine. The...

Franklin 4A-150

Looking for a overhaul manual for the Franklin 4A-150 a 60 HP engine. I have the 4AC-199 manual and the engines are slightly different.

The local museum has asked me to build a operational engine for them.

Re: Model K Instrument Cluster

They can be a little tough to locate, but there are a few available. Don't forget some of the early T'craft and Commonwealth used them also. The latter having ammeter and fuel gauges. Some early boats had a version of this gauge cluster also.

Re: Tail position light bulb

That's correct, check any information you might have on the light, and any replacement bulbs required. If there is no recommendation for bulbs find one that meets your needs and install it as a "standard part". Not all items are, or required to have any certification basis.

Re: Tail position light bulb

It could be a #1176 if it is a 12 volt model. You can find the bulbs by attachment style, voltage and lumens.

Re: Attaching Stringers to Bulheads

I tie them in place with the wire like in your photo. This allows the stringer to shift slightly as they age and prevent a wrinkle from forming at the joint.
The lower ends of the last two or three bulkheads can benefit from a reinforcement strip glued and nailed there.

Re: Aux Tank Sight Guage

You will need to bend the wire for the Aux tank. It's kind of tough to get it to read correctly. Best bet is to find an original if you can.

Re: Champion 7JC Owner Died N610WA

I think they paid way too much for the project. While it is quite rare, that doesn't always mean high value. Think of a super-model with a big wart on their face, quite rare but not a valuable asset. My guess this plane would hold about a 20% increase in value. With Champ projects in a similar condi...

Re: Looking for marvel schebler carburetor

Jack,

There are some earlier superseded 10- numbers for the O200 carbs. The 10- number is the internal configuration of the carburetor components. Asked about converting other MA3's to different 10- numbers and got a non-answer.

Re: Continental A40

Richard,
Fresno doesn't have them. Kind of an odd little stud, 7/16X20 on both ends. The center of the stud is bottle-necked. I can find some alternate style studs that will work, but looking for the originals if I can find them.
