Cowling Grommet fasteners and scratch mark painting

Have a Chief with cowling fasteners which require a wide slot type screwdriver to loosen them. Over time this has led to the paint which was applied to their tops being scratched by the screwdrivers used to open the cowling. I would like to replace them with some type of "snap" grommets. Anyone know...

Re: Need headset adapters

MikeB, I have the same problem you described with the KX99 which came with my recently purchased Chief. I'm still trouble-shooting the cable adapters to the David Clark 10-40 headset which is hooked to it but the main problem seems to be the male female fit of the Phone/Mic cables to the the radio r...

Fuel quantity in Chief main tank

Made first XC in my new Chief on Sunday and had a small surprise! After proceding North for < 1 1/2 hrs., became concerned about the fuel level indications on the guage mounted top center of the panel. Result was a precautionary fuel stop @ KLHV. Using the fuel quantity stick that the previous owner...

Decals on Fabric exterior

There are three decals pasted (somehow ) on my newly acquired CHIEF and I wish to remove them. The exterior finish is in very fine condition so it becomes a task to be performed with great finesse. The skin is Polyfibre covered with Aerothane. Any ideas for non-aggressive techniques to take them off...

Hello Eveyone, N86310 recently joined my family and I am looking forward to discussions with you about the Whims and wiles of Aeronca Chiefs with you and particularly with respect to her and my becoming more familiar with her. Once she is settled in her new hangar at 2PN1 in Northern Pa., I will try...
