Re: Aeronca Aux fuel tank documentation

Bob, I am talking about the "Auxiliary Fuel Tank" which is nominally 8 gal capacity and located aft of the baggage compartment and above it. As far as I know it was a standard part/capability in the 11 AC, at least, and often unused or misused. It is documented in the Chief Service manual. Are there...

Re: Aeronca Aux fuel tank documentation

Aryana, The information you have provided must surely be of great interest to Sedan owners. I have looked through it to see if perhaps it was applicable to my 11AC but I guess not. Having come to that conclusion after only a cursory review, I will surely reread it much more thoroughly to confirm thi...

Re: Edge trim

Richard, He wouldn't, but I am just trying to be prepared for the possibility of covering up some ragged edges if necessary. I did try the catalog companies but didn't find anything. I frequently ask if someone on the forum has an idea for a fix or source for a product. there's a lot of knowledge am...

Are You a member of this Group

Today, I spoke with a friend about how many McDowell starters are ACTUALLY INSTALLED AND IN USE IN AERONCAS AROUND THE WORLD. His response was why don't you ask the question on the NAA forum ? While we don't have exclusive connection here to all Aeronca people The NAA certainly represents an importa...

Edge trim

I'm looking for a source for edge trim. It would ideally be a Fiberglas or plastic or maybe even metal flexible U- shaped product for use on exterior surfaces of my plane. My immediate need is for u- channel shaped material with an interior depth of about 1/8 to 3/16 in. And a total width of 5/16 to...

Jerry,

I imagine you will receive floods of these in response to your request. If not, let me know, I'll send them along.

Re: Bill Are You Readying This

Paul, Bill and I chatted for a long time today. See my other post and you might want to give Bill a call. - Cheers, Bob Aw, come on, Bob. After, such an illuminating discussion betwixt the three of you, what is your conclusion re: the STC status ? I'm expecting Paul to speak out on his view of it. ...

Re: Repair of broken fiberglass wheel pants for 11AC

Thanks, Richard. The fuselage and wings etc. are still finished with the Aerothane yellow and these parts are still in excellent condition. Have you had experience with matching the colors of MEK based products on the same vehicle ? Not necessarily yellow, but a good color transition from an existin...

Re: Repair of broken fiberglass wheel pants for 11AC

The Wheel Pant repair is coming along. I am now at the point of applying filler to selected points where they sustained significant damage. Once filled and repaired, obviously they will be primed and finished to the original color. ((Aerothane LEMON YELLOW according to the logs at the time of the la...

Re: Tensioning tail brace wires

Mark,
Guess I missed them on FAA, but also your links both produce only error results! I'm trying to view them on my iPad so maybe it's an operating system problem. Most everything other than "flash" content is usually accessible. Any idea why ?

Re: Hanlon-Wilson Exhaust

Holcombe, Sorry I can't offer a good repair philosophy but have a question for my own interest. Do you know how long the H-W has been installed ? I have the standard exhaust on my Chief and am long-suffering in the cold weather. Have considered many fixes and , of course, H-W is among them. Has your...

Re: Repair of broken fiberglass wheel pants for 11AC

I am proceeding with the wheel pant repairs for my Chief essentially as suggested by Paul, but may need to put hub caps on the chief for the interim while I grind away on the fiberglass. WaG-Aero sells wheel Hub caps for $89 for a pair. They probably look fairly good since they have "Aeronca" stampe...

MOGAS STC

I'm looking for sources for an STC allowing use of Mogas in my A-65 Chief. Thought EAA had one, at least for members but can't find it there. I'll start looking for the one which supposedly is available on the "Petersen site". I'm not sure that everybody or anybody should do this but, it won't hurt ...
